This project investigates the dance costume and mask as more than decorative objects, considering them as active agents in processes of cultural transformation. Through the creation of latex casts derived from Bolivian folk-dance costumes and masks, I explore how identity extends beyond the individual body and becomes distributed across material, ritual, memory, and performance. The work examines the boundaries between human and more-than-human forms, creating sculptural skins that exist between body, object, relic, and living presence. The is centred on creating a series of latex impressions derived from Bolivian folk-dance costumes, everyday traditional ware and masks, exploring how cultural identity, performance, and memory persist through material traces. Through casting, layering, and experimentation with projection, the residency will investigate the costume as both an object and a vessel of cultural knowledge. The latex skins act as that extra skin.
